Immunity is necessary for our bodies to survive and thrive. Medically, a healthy immune system prevents bad bacteria, viruses and parasites from living in our bodies.
From a holistic perspective, our immune system protects against harm. This harm can come from stress and the busy-ness of day to day living. Harm can come from unreasonable expectations from ourselves or others. Our thoughts feelings and beliefs contribute much more to our immunity than we realise.
Think about a time in your life when you experienced a stressful event, for example the loss of a loved one, the loss of a job or a change in your financial situation. Think about your health immediately after this event. Did you become unwell with the flu or a tummy bug?
Now think about a time in your life when everything seemed to be going well – great job, amazing friends surrounding you, immersed in a love bubble with your partner. How was your health? More than likely your health was amazingly good, and you didn’t even think about it.
Our immune system keeps us healthy and well as we sail through the sea of pathogens and stressors every day.
If our immune system is strong, it will protect us catching colds and flues and viruses. Our immune system will allow the unkindness of others to have little or no effect on us. We can improve our immunity by taking some simple steps.
